SHED KIT PRICES · A BUYER’S GUIDE

How to compare
shed quotes in Australia.

A lower kit price is only useful when you know what it includes. Start with the specification, keep GST and freight visible, and budget separately for the work outside the kit.

If you’re comparing shed quotes in Australia, the headline price is only the starting point. Two sheds with the same footprint can have different heights, framing, doors, cladding and documentation. Freight and other exclusions can change the amount you need to budget.

This guide helps you compare an existing shed kit quote with an alternative on a consistent basis. It is general buying guidance, not a site-specific engineering, installation or approval assessment.

01 / READ THE SCOPE

Shed kit prices: what are you actually buying?

Separate the quote into the kit, delivery and everything outside the kit. For the kit itself, look for dimensions, framing and cladding specifications, openings, fittings, optional extras and the documents supplied.

Ask which components are included rather than assuming that anchors, flashings, gutters, downpipes, doors or insulation are part of every package. Check the quote date, expiry and any assumptions that affect the price.

For consumer pricing, compare amounts in Australian dollars including GST. Keep freight, unloading and any other mandatory charges visible. If a charge cannot yet be calculated, ask what information is needed before you rely on the total.

02 / COMPARE LIKE FOR LIKE

Cheap shed quotes need the same checklist.

A cheaper quote may be a better offer, or it may cover a different kit. Use the same requirements for each quote you have obtained, and make any differences explicit.

  1. Confirm the size and layout. Record the width, length, height, bays, roof form and usable door openings.
  2. Match the specification. Compare the stated steel, cladding, framing, finishes and included components. Ask for clarification where a description is vague.
  3. Check the site assumptions. Make sure the quote relates to the intended site and use, and identify the engineering information or other documentation included.
  4. List the extras and exclusions. Compare doors, windows, insulation, drainage components, delivery and unloading on the same basis.
  5. Compare the full quoted amount. Keep GST and quantifiable mandatory charges included. Mark unresolved costs separately rather than treating them as zero.
  6. Describe alternatives honestly. If a lower-priced option changes the materials, dimensions or scope, assess it as an alternative rather than an identical saving.

There is no guaranteed saving from this process. Its value is a clearer decision about what each offer provides.

03 / LOOK BEYOND THE LABEL

Steel shed quotes and COLORBOND specifications.

When comparing steel shed quotes, read the actual product and component descriptions. “Steel shed” alone does not tell you the framing, thickness, coating, finish or warranty included.

If a quote specifies COLORBOND steel, check the quoted product, colour, applicable warranty and suitability for the proposed location with the supplier. Compare those details with the alternative quote rather than assuming that a familiar product name makes every package equivalent.

Raise coastal exposure, intended use and other site conditions before accepting an offer. Product suitability and engineering requirements need project-specific confirmation; an image or a generic price guide cannot establish them.

04 / KEEP THE BUDGET COMPLETE

Freight and shed installation costs sit outside many kit prices.

A supply-only kit quote is not the same as a finished, installed shed price. Keep separate allowances or written quotes for concrete, earthworks, installation, permits, approvals and other site services unless they are expressly included.

For delivery, confirm the destination, vehicle access, unloading arrangements and any extra charges. For separately arranged installation, ask the provider to state the site-readiness and foundation assumptions behind its quote.

Shed Quote Check focuses on kit-price enquiries. We do not provide an installation quote through this service. Do not rely on a kit comparison as a complete construction budget, or assume that a kit is exempt from local requirements.

05 / START WITH YOUR USE

Garden storage, garages and larger shed kits.

A small garden or storage shed, a carport, a garage and a larger workshop can have quite different requirements. Start with what you need to store or do, the space available, required access and the site postcode.

For a smaller kit, consider the quoted access, security, ventilation and base requirements. For larger projects, clearly identify the layout, openings, intended use and required documentation before comparing prices.

“Prefab” and “kit” can describe different supply arrangements. Ask what arrives, what still needs assembly and which other work is excluded. These examples help you prepare an enquiry; they do not confirm that a particular product or service is available for your address.

06 / USE THE WRITTEN QUOTE

Comparing Best Sheds, EasyShed or Shed Bonanza quotes?

If your existing quote is from Best Sheds, EasyShed, Shed Bonanza or another supplier, use the same checklist. Identify the exact kit, dimensions, steel and cladding specification, included documents, GST, freight and quote expiry. A different brand or a lower advertised price does not by itself establish an equivalent offer.

You may also see the name Fair Dinkum Sheds. The brand is now Fair Dinkum Builds. Check which outlet issued the quote and what it covers. Our nominated supplier is Sale Barns and Garages Pty Ltd, the Sale Fair Dinkum Builds outlet.

These names identify quotes a buyer may already hold. Best Sheds, EasyShed and Shed Bonanza are not our nominated suppliers, and we do not obtain a panel of competing quotes from them. We make no general claim that one brand is cheaper or better than another.

07 / INCLUDE YOUR POSTCODE

Shed pricing in Melbourne, Gippsland and beyond.

For a project in Melbourne, Geelong or Gippsland, give the actual delivery suburb and postcode rather than only the nearest city. For Sydney, Brisbane or the Gold Coast, ask for delivery availability and the full freight scope to be confirmed before relying on a kit price.

For any shed kit enquiry in Australia, include access and unloading constraints as well as the intended use. The postcode helps identify the proposed delivery location and the information needed for a suitable quote.

Every enquiry is assessed individually. Naming an area here does not confirm supply, installation, a local branch or a fixed delivery price for that location.

08 / ASK FOR A CONSIDERED SECOND LOOK

How Shed Quote Check works.

Already have a written shed kit quote? Send it with your contact details and site postcode so Rowan can review the enquiry. Our aim is to assess whether the nominated supplier can offer a cheaper comparable kit, subject to specification, availability and serviceability.

Shed Quote Check is a separate lead-generation and referral service. Our sole nominated supplier is Sale Barns and Garages Pty Ltd, ABN 65 652 115 289. We do not gather prices from a supplier panel or compare the whole market. You can compare any resulting offer with quotes you obtain elsewhere.

The service is free for customers. We receive a commission or referral fee from Sale Barns and Garages. Your enquiry is reviewed first, and any onward sharing with the supplier is discussed with you. Sending a quote does not place an order or guarantee a lower price.

Use one readable PDF or up to three JPG/PNG photos. Remove bank details, signatures and unrelated personal information. The form explains FormSubmit/Gmail handling and asks for quote-review permission; monthly-offer marketing is a separate optional choice.
